At first glance the viewer is enticed to jump to a simple conclusion: D’Alvia sculpts and draws hairy and funny imaginary beings that seem drawn from cartoons or inspired by fluffy toys. This quick statement is made easy by the composition of his works which are precise and include few subjects.

However this first level of understanding leaves the viewer puzzled…For D’Alvia’s pictures stay imbedded in our thoughts and their narrative power combine tragedy and humor.Finding a refuge on a theoretical level is equally difficult…D’Alvia is mischievous and his work contains unexpected and subversive references to art history…
